# List Template Categories

> Returns the template categories with the number of templates in each one, so a gallery can show filters and counts.

Returns each category of the template catalog with how many public templates it holds. The call needs **no authentication**. With a session or an API key (scope `templates:read`) the counts also include your private templates; a request with an `Authorization` header is always validated, so an invalid key is a `401`. Reads are limited to 60 requests per minute per client.

**workspace\_id** `string`

Also counts the private templates of that workspace. The owner of the workspace and members who can read its applications can use it.

An array with one item per category.

**Toggle object**

**category** `string`

The category: `automation`, `ai-agents`, `bots`, `apis`, `cms`, `monitoring`, `starters`, `databases` or `other`.

**count** `integer`

The number of templates in the category. Use the same value as `category` in [List Templates](https://docs.vertracloud.app/api-reference/endpoint/templates/list.md) to open it.

### Error Responses

**code** `string`

The error code indicating the reason for the failure. Possible values:

* `VALIDATION_ERROR`: `workspace_id` is not a valid ID (`400`).
* `API_KEY_SCOPE_DENIED`: The API key does not have the `templates:read` scope (`403`).
* `WORKSPACE_NOT_FOUND`: The workspace does not exist or you are not part of it (`404`).
* `RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED`: Too many requests (`429`).
* `INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR`: Unexpected failure (`500`).
