# v26.4.5 — October 20, 2026

> Released October 20, 2026: stronger protection against traffic floods and clearer messages during a Vertra Shield pause

<Update label="v26.4.5" description="October 20, 2026">
  ### Stronger protection against traffic floods

  Applications on `*.vertraweb.app` and on custom domains now have stronger protection against traffic floods: abusive visitors are blocked before they reach your application. Applications that receive a sudden traffic spike are no longer paused by Vertra Shield.

  During a Shield pause, start, restart and configuration changes now show the reason and when the pause ends, instead of a generic access error (`APP_SHIELD_COOLDOWN`). See [Platform Protections](/knowledge-base#7-platform-protections-vertra-shield).
