Stable error codes returned by every /data endpoint, and what causes each one.
/v1/databases/{id}/data needs the Intermediary plan or higher on the
database owner’s account, is reachable only from a dashboard session (never with an API key), and answers with the platform envelope: { response } on
success, { code } on failure. The code is stable — the dashboard translates it — and never carries
a driver message, a connection string, a password or a stack trace.

DATABASE_NOT_FOUND | 404 | No database with that ID. |
USER_NOT_FOUND | 401 | No session on the request. |
API_KEY_SCOPE_DENIED | 403 | The request was authenticated with an API key. The Data tab is dashboard-session only, whatever the key’s scopes. |
ACCESS_DENIED | 403 | You are not the owner and your workspace role is not enough. Reads need any role; writes and the SQL console need owner or admin. |
PLAN_RESTRICTED_FEATURE | 403 | The database owner’s plan is below Intermediary. Checked after ownership, so a database you cannot see answers ACCESS_DENIED instead. |
VALIDATION_ERROR | 400 | A parameter or body field is outside its limit — per_page above 200, an unknown filter operator, a non-numeric scan cursor, SQL above 64 KB or empty. |
DB_NOT_RUNNING | 409 | The database container is stopped. Start it and retry. |
DB_CONNECT_FAILED | 502 | The platform could not reach the engine. |
OBJECT_NOT_FOUND | 404 | The schema, table, column, collection or key does not exist in this database. |
QUERY_TIMEOUT | 504 | The statement hit the 10-second engine timeout. |
QUERY_REJECTED | 400 | The statement or filter was refused — for example a MongoDB filter using $where, $function or $accumulator. |
PAYLOAD_TOO_LARGE | 413 | The request body exceeded 1 MB. (SQL above the 64 KB ceiling is a VALIDATION_ERROR, not this — it is a field limit, checked by validation.) |
DB_DATA_FAILED | 502 | The database query failed without an engine error code. Unexpected — retry, then open a ticket. |
INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR | 500 | An error on our side. Never carries the underlying message. |
ENGINE_UNSUPPORTED | 400 | The endpoint does not apply to this engine (asking for schemas on Redis, for example). |
