A share link lets another account use your private template without you adding them anywhere. The link is unlisted: whoever has the token can open the preview and use the template. You create it from the template’s page or with the CLI, and you can revoke it at any time.
The token starts with vtpl_ and is shown once, when the link is created. Only a hash is stored, so it cannot be read again; if you lose it, revoke the link and create another. Keep it out of logs and public posts. You choose the mode when you create the link. A full-copy link is refused for a closed template and for a template whose version uses env_hidden: your hidden values never reach a copy, and a copy always removes them. The permission is checked when the receiver copies, so turning full_copy off later stops links that were already created.

What happens to the image

When the receiver uses your template, the platform creates an image in their account, marked as a copy of yours, so for them it is an image they own: no rebuild and no Dockerfile. If you delete the image, the template or your account, nothing changes for them. The link stops working, but their apps keep running.

Limits and expiry

Without them, the link has no limit and does not expire. A request on a link answers SHARE_LINK_NOT_FOUND when the token is unknown, then SHARE_LINK_REVOKED, SHARE_LINK_EXPIRED or SHARE_LINK_EXHAUSTED.

What the receiver sees

Before creating anything, the receiver sees a preview: the name and description, the author’s display name, what will be created (services and total memory), the plan it needs, the image slots it takes, and the label Not verified by Vertra. If the template is closed, the preview also warns that the values they fill in go to code they cannot read, and that they are trusting you. The preview never shows the manifest, the source, your account id or your e-mail.

Revoking

Revoking a link blocks new uses and stops offering updates through it. What was already created belongs to the receiver and keeps running. Revoking is idempotent. Deleting the template revokes all of its links. You can never stop, delete or read anything in another account through a link.

Abuse

A link distributes code that no one at Vertra Cloud has reviewed, so the receiver sees a Report button in the preview and in the created app. Reports go to the platform. For serious cases such as malware, platform staff can revoke a link or a template and stop every copy, as an enforcement of the terms of service, not as an author action. Do not use a link to distribute code you do not have the right to share.
