Manifest validation findings
POST /v1/templates/validate (and vertra template validate) never creates anything and always answers with a list of findings. Each finding has a path (for example services.app.ram.recommended), a code and a message. When you create a template with an invalid manifest, the call fails with TEMPLATE_MANIFEST_INVALID and the same list in details.issues. The field list is in the manifest schema; this page covers the findings.
A finding with the
private_network_unavailable code is a warning, not an error: a connection of the template is not available over public addresses, so the template stays out of the public gallery.
Deploy and update errors
These are returned byPOST /v1/templates/{template_id}/deploy, by the share link deploy and by the update routes. Most are checked before the 202, so no job exists; failures during the job arrive in the job’s error field with the step that failed and the changes are undone.
Other codes can appear inside a job’s
error when a step fails, such as BUILD_FAILED, BUILD_TIMEOUT, IMAGE_NOT_READY, IMAGE_BUILDER_UNAVAILABLE, BLOB_NAMESPACE_SUSPENDED, PLAN_RESTRICTED_FEATURE and STACK_BLOB_PREFIX_TAKEN. The message is always a fixed sentence and never carries the output of your app or values of your variables.
Steps of a job
A job lists only the steps that apply to it, in this order:validate, snapshot (updates), network, databases, blob, images, apps, variables, certificates, start, healthcheck, outputs. A failed job adds rollback. The step in the error tells you where to look: a healthcheck failure means the app started but never became healthy, so check the app’s logs; an images failure is about the image or your slots; a databases failure is about the limit or the memory of the databases.
